OWWA Scholarships for Incoming College Students | EDSP & CMWSP

OWWA Scholarship 2025

Are you a child or sibling of an active Overseas Filipino Worker? OWWA continues to support OFW families through two major scholarships for incoming college freshmen:

Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP)
Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP)

Each program offers Php 60,000.00 per school year in financial assistance for eligible scholars.

Both scholarships are designed to help OFW dependents pursue higher education in accredited Philippine colleges and universities.

🎓 Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP)

One of the OWWA Scholarships is the EDSP, which is intended for incoming first-year college students of active OWWA members.

Who Can Apply

You may apply if you are:

  • Child of an active OWWA member

  • Sibling of an active OWWA member (if the OWWA member is single or married with no children)

Qualifications

To qualify, the applicant must be:

  • Single

  • Not more than 21 years old on the date of application

  • An incoming first-year college student

  • With a GWA of at least 80 percent or its equivalent

  • With no failing grades

  • Willing to study in any Philippine-based college or university

Scholarship Benefits

EDSP scholars receive: Php 60,000.00 financial assistance per academic year.

Proof of Identity

  • OFW: Valid passport bio page

  • Dependent: Valid school ID or any valid ID plus Birth Certificate or Baptismal Certificate

Academic Requirements

  • Grades from the previous school year

    • Form 137

    • Form 10 TOR

    • Form 138 Report Card

    • Certificate of Grades

Photo Requirement

  • Two pieces 2×2 ID picture with white background and name tag

Note: Preliminary grades from SY 2024 to 2025 or SY 2023 to 2024 are acceptable. Final requirements must be submitted once verified by your OWWA Regional Welfare Office.

🎓 Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP)

Another one of the OWWA Scholarships is the CMWSP, which is also for incoming first-year college students, with specific rules for OFWs and their dependents.

Who Can Apply

You may apply if you are:

  • An OFW applicant (must not be older than 45 years on the date of application), or

  • A child of an OFW (must not be older than 21 years)

Qualifications

To qualify, you must:

  • Be single

  • Be an incoming first-year college student

  • Have a family income not exceeding USD 2,400 per year

  • Have a GWA of at least 80 percent

  • Have no failing grades

  • Intend to take a Science and Technology course (based on DOST’s list)

  • Be willing to study in accredited Philippine colleges and universities

📝 How to Apply Online

Here is the step by step process:

  1. Visit the official portal: https://scholarship.owwa.gov.ph

  2. Create an account or log in.

  3. Select the scholarship program (EDSP or CMWSP).

  4. Fill out the application form completely.

  5. Upload the required documents.

  6. Submit your application.

  7. Wait for confirmation from your OWWA Regional Welfare Office (RWO).

  • The OFW membership will be verified via the Membership Processing System MPS.

1. What is the main difference between EDSP and CMWSP?

EDSP is for children and siblings of active OWWA members.
